Emerald Athletic Club is one of Limerick's leading juvenile athletic clubs. Founded in 1973, we cater for young athletes aged 7 and upwards. We're based at the University of Limerick Sports Arena. New members are welcome!

UNIVERSITY OF LIMERICK, Sunday 13th May 2012 - The traditional first competitive outing of the season is the Limerick Track & Championships, which took place at UL today in bright, cool and windy conditions.

As usual, Emerald had a fine turnout and great to see some of our newer athletest get some taste of local competition.

Emerald juveniles travel to Leevale

CIT, CORK, Sunday 15th April 2012 - Well done to all our athletes who travelled to CIT in Cork today and competed at the Leevale 2012 Open Day. As usual, we had some great competition, and plenty of finalists and medallists.

Congrats in particular to Eimear Galvin, Molly Looney, Finn Looney, Zara Bolger, Chloe Tobin, Jamie Mitchell and Jenna Bromell who all took home prizes, and to all Emerald athletes who helped us show a strong presence once more for this event.

Sarah Lavin, Emerald AC, wins the Senior Womens 100m Hurdles at Leevale 2012
Sarah wins 100m Hurdles at Leevale

CIT, CORK, Saturday 14th April 2012 - Sarah Lavin took the gold in the Senior Womens 100m Hurdles event at Leevale today in a time of 14.01s. Lily-Ann O'Hora took silver. Sarah also took a bronze in the 100m and 200m sprints.

Marie Heelan won a great bronze in the Senior Womens Long Jump, recording 5.42m, and Marie qualified for the Senior 100m fina, taking a fine 6th place.

Evan Crotty and Art O'Connor also competed at Senior level 400m, and each took second place in their finals.

More National Indoor medals for Marie

NENAGH, Saturday 31st March 2012 - Many congratulations to Marie Heelan who won a great silver in the U18 Long Jump and a bronze in the 200m today weekend in Nenagh. Marie adds these medals to her National silver in the U18 60m, which she won last weekend!

In the 200m, Marie was third behind Cliodhna Manning (KCH) in a time of 26.14, and she jumped 5.16m to take her Long Jump silver.

Very well done Marie.

Kyle Larkin SIAB
Kyle runs for Irish Schools in Scotland

PERTH, SCOTLAND, Saturday 31st March 2012 - In the picturesque surroundings of Strathallan School, south of Perth in Scotland, Kyle Larkin was one of 32 Irish athletes who competed in the AVIVA SIAB Schools International Cross Country International. The sun shone throughout the competition and spectators were able to follow the progress of the athletes easily on a magnificent course which although hilly had firm underfoot conditions.

In the Intermediate Boys race over 6000m, Kyle was the second Irish finisher in a respectable 11th place, just over 20 seconds behind the winner. The Irish team finished 3rd.

NENAGH, Saturday 24th March 2012 - Marie Heelan took a great silver today in the National Juvenile Indoor Championships U18 Girls 60m final, finishing just 6/100ths of a second behind the winner, Cliodhna Manning, Kilkenny City Harriers.

Marie also picked a new personal best of 7.77 seconds.

Caroline Hickey was placed 5th in the final of the U19 Girls 400m.

Plenty of Emerald medals at Comm Games

RATHKEALE, Monday 19th March 2012 - Limerick 2012 Community Games Cross Country was held in a blustery but thankfully dry Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale at 4 pm today.

Emerald AC had a sizeable representation at the meet with many medallists and a number of Emerald athletes going forward to represent County Limerick in Athlone over the weekend of May 25th to 27th. Read more ...

Kyle Larkin wins All-Ireland Schools

GALWAY, Saturday 10th March 2012 - Kyle Larkin representing Ardscoil Rís, Limerick has won the Intermediate Schools Cross Country at Galway today.

Kyle Larkin impressively won the Intermediate Boys race from Ryan Sharkey (Methodist College, Belfast) and Conall Kirk (Sullivan’s Upper).

This is fantastic news for Kyle who now has a cross country double following his fantastic win in the Club event at the Curragh in December. Report to follow!

Marie Heelan leads Emerald Indoor wins

NENAGH, Saturday & Sunday 3rd & 4th March 2012 - Emerald AC had great results at the 2012 Munster Indoor Championships held over two days at Nenagh.

Marie Heelan had a great double gold, winning both the U18 Girls 60m sprint and the Long Jump. Ciaran Daly, in only his second season in athletics, won the U17 Boys 1500m event.

And Gearoid Mitchell and Niall Mulcahy won their Walk events. Read more ...
