Welcome to the Emerald Athletic Club website

Emerald Athletic Club is one of Limerick's leading juvenile athletic clubs. Founded in 1973, we cater for young athletes aged 7 and upwards. We're based at the University of Limerick Sports Arena. New members are welcome!

Sarah Lavin takes Junior Indoor 60m

NENAGH, Sunday 22nd January 2012 - Emerald's growing numbers in the Junior ranks was evident today at the Woodie's AAI National Junior Indoor Championships. Sarah Lavin took the National title in the Womens 60m Hurdles, running 8.74s.

Marie Heelan took a great bronze in the 60m in a time of 8.04s, just edging out Lily Ann O'Hora in a photo. Marie also took 4th place in the Long Jump.

We have even more juveniles on the way to the Junior ranks. Expect more great results as they go on to compete at Munster and National levels ....

Emerald compete at Killarney Cross Country

BEAUFORT, KILLARNEY, Sunday 15th January 2012 - Congratulations to Zara Bolger who took a fine silver in the U12 Girls.

Also in action today for the Limerick team were Kate Cosgrave and Grace Donovan who were running U14 and took fourth place in the team event.

Well done to all Limerick girls who went to Kerry on a cool January day and kept the Limerick flag flying!

Emerald 2011 Slide Show available

Official copies of the Emerald 2011 Slide Show DVD - as shown at our awards night recently - are still available to members. If you didn't manage to get yours at training before Christmas, they will be for sale again again at UL track next Sunday, 8th January, and on Sundays following while stocks remain.

Supply is limited, available on a first come, first served basis. The price is a bargain €10, and is a great souvenir of several hundred photos of our athletes in the 2010/11 season.

Kyle Larkin wins National Cross Country

CURRAGH, Sunday 11th December 2011 - Just barely two years after taking up athletics, Kyle Larkin is U17 Boys National Cross Country Champion after a brilliant victory today in the Curragh. Kyle has been competitive both in Munster and nationally for over a year, and deserved his victory today with brilliant race management and a finish of pure class. Kyle follows in the footsteps of Amy O'Donoghue who the U17 Girls for the past 2 years.

Finn Looney, who is in his first season competing, took a magnificent 6th place in the U11 Boys event. The U17 Boys team competed also but were out of luck in the placings. Read more ....

Plenty of winners at Emerald awards night

LIMERICK, Friday 11th November 2011 - Our annual awards event was a big hit tonight at the new venue of Monaleen GAA Club.

Noelle Morrissey presented the awards to our stars, most promising athletes and those who did something special in the past season.

The annual slide show followed, and then Mary Nash and Maeve Cosgrave were the hosts for a Red Or Black game, with some pretty amazing performances! Report will follow when we get all the stories! In the meantime, click here for photos.

Emerald in big turnout for Limerick Indoors

NENAGH, Saturday 5th November 2011 - Many new members had their first taste of Track & Field competition at the Limerick Indoor Championships today, and it looks like everybody had a great time.

The Limerick Indoors traditionally signal the start of the indoor season and are usually a great way to experience competitions for the very first time.
