Derval also set a new Irish record of 12.65 seconds for the event and once more has proved a top class competitor and an inspirational figure for athletes in this country.

Golds, silvers and records at Relay Finals
TULLAMORE, Sunday 25th July 2010 - Two golds, a silver and a disqualification were the contrasting stories for Emerald at the National Club Relay finals in Tullamore today.
There was a fantastic gold and record for the Emerald in the U17 Girls 4 x 100m when Emerald held off a good Ferrybank team, knocking 8/10ths of a second of a record that stood since 1999!
A second gold was grabbed by the U16 Girls in the afternoon, but the U16 Boys were disqualified for a false start...... and there was a fighting bronze by the U15 Girls. Read more.... |

Amy O'Donoghue 4th at Senior Nationals
SANTRY, Sunday 11th July 2010 - What a fantastic performance by Amy O'Donoghue in the Womens 800m Senior Championship. With a new personal best as her main aim, Amy finished a superb 4th place in a time of 2:09.67, her first ever time to break 2:10.
There was very good running conditions and the competitive race was won in 2:03 by Rose Anne Galligan, and Ciara Mageean was 2nd in 2:05 so Amy ran most of the race on her own. She went through the first lap in 62 secs so if the race was more evenly paced she may have clawed back another second or two. She was fifth coming into the back straight but had a great kick and finished in fourth position. Great result for a sixteen year old! |
